>> "So long, Hedi Slimane," says Dior. "Hellooo Kris Van Assche." Dior Homme has officially decided to cut ties with Hedi Slimane, after negotiations languished along since last July when Slimane's contract expired. Slimane was looking to start his own label, which Dior was willing to back, but Slimane's reluctance to give up ownership of his name as well as differences over the estimated value of the Hedi Slimane brand ultimately caused the stalemate.
Dior is said to be looking for a new direction for it's men's wear, and is looking to Kris Van Assche to take the baton and run with it (an official announcement has yet to be made, but is expected). Van Asshe previously worked with Slimane for seven years.

young versace receiving treatment
>> Donatella Versace confirmed today in a statement the rumors that her daughter Allegra Versace Beck is undergoing treatment for anorexia. Hopefully Allegra will finally make some good progress towards getting healthy, as she has been battling anorexia, in Donatella's words, "for many years."
ruffle a few feathers
>> They did it on the runway at Nina Ricci and at Jean Paul Gaultier. So no reason you shouldn't have feathers on the brain as well. I sure do. I'm smitten with feather hairpieces, and this one really does the trick -- because it's not too forties, so you won't need a hat pin, and it's not too big, so you'll still be able to comfortably hold your head up high. You'll really want to hold your head up high -- this pheasant feather headband is something to wear with pride. Especially because you bought it for $28.
one place you never thought you would see it
>> The satin Prada turban -- it has really gotten around. Open any women's fashion magazine, it's the first thing you see. Open the style.com party pages, it's the first thing you see. Open a men's fashion magazine... well, it's not the first thing you expect to see. But you can thank Carine Roitfeld for making your assumption (and mine) a falsity. Mme Roitfeld, who took over the editorial directorship of Vogue Hommes International starting this season (S/S 2007), styled a charming little editorial called "Neo Smoking," shot by Mario Testino and showcasing the ubiquitous Prada turban on the head of a... man. And I have to say, I don't think it's ever looked better.
making the modelizer list...
>> ... are DJ AM and Vladimir Restoin Roitfeld. DJ AM is a first-time modelizer (to my knowledge anyway, correct me if I'm wrong), lately spotted traipsing around New York with Jessica Stam. And Vladimir might be attaining serial modelizer status -- first dating Mariacarla Boscono, and now Lily Donaldson. I wonder if Lily will begin to get featured in Vogue Paris as much as it seemed like Mariacarla did when she was dating Vlad?
models-on-covers fanatics rejoice
>> Dutch news sources are reporting that June 2007 is your month: Doutzen Kroes will grace the cover of American Vogue, says the Leeuwarder Courant. And Dutch entertainment show RTL Boulevard revealed a little bit more for us: apparently Miss Kroes will be one of 10 models on the cover, but she gets prime cover real estate, right in the middle. She also apparently has a two-page interview, while the other models have one page.
taking out the trash with naomi
>> It had me wondering, and it probably had you wondering too: why was Naomi Campbell wearing the likes of a chinchilla coat, Chanel newsboy cap and Louboutin stiletto boots to her community service job this week at the Department of Sanitation? If I was doing community service at the Sanitation office, there's no way I would be wearing my best.
But maybe I would think differently if Steven Klein was taking my picture. Naomi recently shot the July cover for W magazine with Klein, and yesterday he was taking pictures of her as she walked out of the sanitation office. Part of the inside editorial for W, maybe? Just hope that Klein doesn't take the theme too literally and have us end up with a trashy editorial (sorry, couldn't resist).
UPDATE: The Telegraph has confirmed with Patrick McCarthy, editorial director of W: the pictures will run across 20 pages in the July issue. Also of interesting note: Naomi's basic rate is between £25,000 and £30,000 per day (the shoot ran all last week -- you do the math). And the estimated cost of her outfits last week (many of the pieces from Fall/Winter 2007 collections): £236,136. Not too shabby for a week of scrubbing a few toilets and such.
she's just she's just katie from croydon
>> Who doesn't need a little Kate Moss to brighten their day? Topshop just posted a good-lengthed video of Kate bringing in some pieces from her own closet to inspire the Topshop design team, trying on some samples that were already made. Maybe you can catch a glimpse of some potential pieces that haven't yet been revealed, and better yet: the fashion sphinx, she speaks!
poo-poo, mr. pugh
>> Ah, to be a young starving artist. A young starving artist who before London Fashion Week claimed that in five seasons of showing, he had yet to sell a dress -- despite all the hype he's received.
Gareth Pugh, ladies and gentlemen, who has become the latest addition to Anna Wintour's stable of young burgeoning designers (A bit surprising actually, since he was gauchely double-fisting Stella Artois when they were first introduced.), the man who claims to have once lived on £300 for three months, and who forgoes heating in his studio so he can sew instead. London's newest enfant terrible, will he follow in the footsteps of McQueen and become a commercial success or will his flash in the pan fizzle? Only time will tell.
the eyes have it
>> This girl has definitely caught my eye -- Masha Tyelna, 16-year-old Ukrainian, new addition to the sisterhood of the alien-faced models. Just look at those peepers -- she looks like she's straight out of Margaret Keane drawing. I am just in awe of what an eyeful she is. Definitely one I will be watching, partly because I didn't think it possible to have eyes that big.
