New York based luxury brand Thuy launched their e-commerce site and started things off with a 30% off Fall sale and one-off offerings. The site will soon expand and include hard to find samples, a blog, and a section for styling tips. Vietnam born designer Thuy Diep graduated from Parsons School of Design and launched her brand in 2006. To see the Spring 2009 Thuy collection as shown during New York Fashion Week, click here.
Supima is hosting another design contest, asking emerging talent to "rethink the possibilities of fashion--beginning with fibers and fabrics". Modeled on the legendary 1954 Wool Secretariat competition that helped launch the careers of Yves Saint Laurent and Karl Lagerfeld, this event is just now picking up steam and setting its sights on becoming an important competition on the fashion calendar. Among other contestants in last season's runway show were the designers of Form (Jerry Tam and company)--who hold their own during New York Fashion Week with or without contest-running. The Supima open call will take place this Thursday in New York and the subsequent runway show will take place in January. For more information, click here.

This Friday will mark the opening of Samantha Pleet's first free-standing store which will feature Pleet's signature line along with her own curation of accessories lines and treasures from abroad. Pleet's recent collaboration with Urban Outfitters has won her recognition outside of New York (where she has remained a downtown favorite) and so it seems fitting that the designer would mark her spot elsewhere. The pop-up space, designed by architect, designer, and husband to the designer, Patrick (Pleet) McGovern, will feature a cavernous-like atmosphere with "mystical surroundings". Check out Pleet's Fall, Spring, and Urban Outfitters look books right here.
