>> A bribery scandal is no shirt off Marc Jacobs's back — he's been captured out at events with Lorenzo Martone the last three nights in a row. The $1 million settlement might have contributed to the cancellation of his annual holiday bash this year, but that doesn't mean Marc still can't party — in moderation, of course. When Solange Knowles got up to perform at the Mango flagship reopening party with a "Put on your Mango dress and dance, honey!" Marc and Lorenzo obliged by dancing front row, kissing and taking pictures, too — Marc was wearing his skirt, after all.

>> IN PRODUCTION —Spring 2009 seems to be the season to introduce shoes. Vena Cava, Alexander Wang, and Proenza Schouler have all recently added footwear to their stable, and now Rag & Bone is following suit with three styles: a tailored loafer, a slipper-like oxford, and ballet flats with brogue detailing ($330-$515). Bugs, Elephants, and Models Unite in Botswana for Pirelli 2009
>> Deep in the Okavango Delta of Botswana, photographer Peter Beard directed Mariacarla Boscono and Malgosia Bela to "show me fun" as they mucked through an algae-covered swamp in May. "Does it feel nice?" he asked Malgosia, who was submerged up to her waist in the goo. "It's nice," she replied, bringing her green hands up to her face.
The finished product — the 2009 Pirelli calendar — debuted yesterday, and you can see the whole thing here (NSFW), but it didn't come without the model cast (Rianne Ten Haken, Isabeli Fontana, Kemp Muhl, Daria Werbowy, Lara Stone, and Emanuela de Paula in addition to Mariacarla and Malgosia) going out on a limb — literally: one shot features a number of them posing nude way up in a bare tree. And they weren't always so comfortable — a big bug was placed on Isabeli's face, and though Peter directs, "Eyes open! Eyes open!" she visibly flinches, "I can't."

>> INSIDER WIRE —When Anna Wintour was asked by previous alma mater New York Magazine about her retirement plans the day after rumors of her retirement circulated, she didn't take too kindly to it: "I'm so sorry, I think that's an extremely rude question. Leave me alone . . . Go away" It seems like the subject is a sore spot, especially since she didn't deny the rumors — or maybe she was just fixated on the fact that in 2008, competitor Elle had one of its most successful ad years ever. Net-A-Porter's Big Fall Sale Starts Monday
Black Friday is looming and, as is typical of e-commerce, Net-a-Porter is one step ahead of the game. This Monday Net-a-Porter will launch into their big Fall sale with designer items marked up to 50% off. Want details? Here's a taste...the Alexander McQueen blow oversized hobo bag will be marked down from $2,100 to $1,260, the Miu Miu paillette pumps will be marked down from $650 to $390, and the Marc by Marc Jacobs concrete jungle dress will be marked down from $460 to $230. Looks like Net-a-Porter is giving us a reason to get up on Monday morning. If you haven't checked out their new Boutiques section, now is a chance to get, ahem, familiar with the merchandise.
Cowl Neck Scarves Make Things Warmer

Now that the winter is finally upon us and we're seeing the grimace of "it's too cold out" on everyone's face, we feel ourselves on the brink of a fashion emergency. This is the time of year when puffer coats are taken out of storage and only the most daring fashionista dare leave home with a cocktail dress on. That said, we find knit cowl neck scarves to be a warm and fashionable middle ground. We especially love the exta-long versions-- like the one Style Bubble clued us into in her post about the Etsy seller Yokoo. Buddle up with a cowl scarf and you won't have to do that weird thing with your mouth when your face gets numb from the wind nor will you have to wear one of those wretched ankle length puffer coats. Best of both worlds!
