ah, fashion editordom

Stephanieseymour_popss08_2 >>  Just two days after officially announcing her switch from sometime model to contributing fashion editor at Interview, Stephanie Seymour Brant is already encountering the joys of being a fashion editor.

She's looking for "edgy, creative" photographers to populate the pages of Interview, but there's a slight problem — most of the good ones are already snapped up for contracts with other publishing house like Hearst or Conde Nast:

It's like one week before I was shooting with them and they're not under contract, and the next day they are, and it's a little unfair.  That bothers me.

Call me confident, but I think new creative director Fabien Baron will pull something through.

>> Chris Benz continues the quest to become the next Proenza Schouler, surrounding himself with a circle of PYTs to dress.  Last night's choice?  None other than Susan Sarandon's daughter, his good friend Eva Amurri, for whom he chose the Samburu Cocktail Dress ($1,215) from his Spring 2008 collection.

balenci-commerce

>> Balenciaga is easing on in to the e-commerce waters, and pretty soon we'll be able to get those geometric woven ankle boots and tasseled leather bags with the ease of a little doubleclick action.  They promise bags, shoes, sunglasses, and jewelry will all be on Balenciaga.com starting May 15 .

I'm just hoping that the floral-print dresses will soon follow.

prada ipo fashionably late (again)

>> Is the fourth time a charm?  Prada, who has already tried to go public three times, just has bad luck with timing, it seems.  The first IPO try was scheduled for Sept.

Miucciapr_lalo_13617310_600 >> Is the fourth time a charm?  Prada, who has already tried to go public three times, just has bad luck with timing, it seems.  The first IPO try was scheduled for Sept. 20, 2001, a plan that was derailed by 9/11.  Then came a try in June 2002, but the WorldCom scandal rendered it moot.

Bad market conditions seem to be striking again: the previously-named June IPO date is now being pushed back until Fall due to too much volatility.   If it ever does go through, hopefully it won't affect Miuccia's fashion beacon mentality too much . . . but you can probably expect more money-making nylon bags, perfumes, and maybe even a Marc by Marc-type line?

crazy for karlie

>> Rumors abounded in January that Karlie Kloss left Elite Model Management for Next Models because her mother agency was paid a large sum of money to have her switch agencies.  Three months later, it doesn't look like Elite is quite ready to let go of the girl who burst on the scene with the crazy zombie walk and a Teen Vogue cover.

Elite has filed a suit alleging that Next "through improper means" stole their talent, particularly Karlie. The lawsuit also cites that Next offered Karlie "improper compensation" to lure her away. Sounds like Karlie can't go anywhere without creating buzz — and that can't be bad for her career.

Urban Outfitters

Stained Couture Shoutout: Almost Denim

The denim jacket is a fashion staple even if it never quite breaks into the top ten pieces list.
Almost Denim Jacket from Urban OutfittersThe denim jacket is a fashion staple even if it never quite breaks into the top ten pieces list. Not as function as a little black dress and yet quite a bit more versatile, the denim jacket can go wrong so fast if one isn't careful. Stained Couture has found an "almost" denim jacket that she is jonesing for badly. While we like the almost denim fabric what got us inspired was the fresh shape. We went exploring for a few unique variations on the denim jacket theme. We even found a super cheap version from Forever 21 called the 3Q Denim Jacket that we are sure the right girl could style into something fabulous. For More Shoutouts Click Here
