Vogue

he who laughs last . . .

>> The awesome caricature that The New York Observer recently ran, parodying the April 2008 cover of Vogue with Anna Wintour and Conde Nast owner Si Newhouse in place of LeBron James and Gisele, has a new owner.  Observer owner Jared Kushner gifted Andre Leon Talley the original illustration after purchasing it for somewhere in the range of $1,000-$10,000.  Especially fun is the fact that ALT was bidding on the drawing himself, so he really did want it.  Can you imagine it sitting, framed, in his office at Vogue?  Or maybe it's a gift for Anna herself .

>> In anticipation of their Cruise collection at the Raleigh Hotel in Miami Beach next Thursday, Chanel is releasing a series of five podcasts, starting today through the day of the show, May 15.  The first is just a short clip, nothing much, but kind of fun in its simplicity nonetheless.

if anything, they're loyal

>>  Bee Shaffer and Anna Wintour are women of habit when it comes to which designer dresses them for the Costume Institute Gala.  Since 2003, Anna has worn either Dior Haute Couture or Chanel Haute Couture every year, regardless of which other designer may be co-chairing the event.  Bee, meanwhile, has stuck with Olivier Theyskens since she started attending in 2004, except for in 2006, when she chose Chanel Haute Couture instead.

model friends

>> It's no secret that Coco Rocha and Anja Rubik are off-the-runway friends, but it seems like they might also be attached at the hip.  They showed up and were photographed together two days in a row at both the Costume Institute Gala on Monday and "A Diamond is Forever"  Luncheon yesterday.  Full disclosure, they were both guests of Pucci on Monday, but on Tuesday Anja was in Derek Lam and Coco in Rag & Bone.  *images: source, source

>> Topshop really can't get here soon enough — the newest rad collaboration they're hosting is a capsule collection of up-and-comer Danielle Scutt's best.  Look out for a ten-piece line of "classic, key denim features mixed with prints of iconically aggressive animals," according to the designer.  There's supposed to be a high-waisted denim skirt, tiger-print cotton bodysuit ($55), and a denim jacket ($148) all in the mix, coming to you online and in-stores on June 2.
