>> Out with the Kirsten Dunst, in with the Vanessa Paradis for Miuccia Prada's scuba-inspired Fall 2008 Miu Miu collection. Prada chose the former Chanel face because of her "powerful independence" and "overlapping qualities of fragility and feminine strength." Looks like Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott have been here to work their usual . . .

This weekend we popped into Opening Ceremony and picked up a pair of Grey Ant High Waist Belted Slacks that nearly blew all of our other trousers out of the water. That said, a Coutorture Immaterial is borne. These trousers rightly fit in with our new fashion kick of the moment, namely, sophisticated clothing that enhances ones curves. The high waist silhouette always did this for us but with new Herve Leger-type frocks also making a huge comeback, we're going to apply the rule to our entire wardrobe. These trousers come even higher than mid waist (hello, 11 inch rise) and turn wide leg (no, they do not flare) by the bottom. A good pair of trousers never hurt anyone and we're going to say that this pair is a choice we wholeheartedly endorse. For more on women looking like women, check out our other super high waist picks below, and, Alexander McQueen's menswear collection which featured a few bombshell looks for the gals.
The Milan menswear shows have started and we've got all the photo galleries a fashionista could ask for. After all, we're not opposed to wearing our boyfriend's clothes once in a while (and we're definitely not opposed to having these beautiful men on our computer screens to start off this hazy Monday morning). Check out, for starters, our galleries from the Costume National, Roberto Cavalli, and Missoni shows.
Be sure to watch the London shows this September for those featured as part of the (Topshop sponsored) British Fashion Council's New Generation. Twenty up and coming designers will follow in the footsteps of Alexander McQueen, Giles Deacon, Jonathan Saunders, and Matthew Williamson by showing their collections as part of this initiative to expose new talent. More than likely, a few of these twenty will become the next Uniqlo collaborators and then, household names.
Marc Jacobs named a bag after a blogger. The new BB (Bryanbag) is an ostrich number the blogger in charge of Bryanboy.com obsessed over and Jacobs subsequently gave the young gentleman, with an arsenal of designer handbags to begin with, a little piece of MJ history. We'll let Bryanboy, with his brand new ladies handbag, be our official justification for covering the mens shows.
