>> After all the hype the July 2008 issue of Vogue Italia garnered, questions arose as to whether the issue was a one-time publicity stunt or an actual attempt at industry change. When the August 2008 Vogue Italia cover dropped featuring five white models earlier this week, the questions were hardly silenced. But Franca Sozzani has decided to follow through with the August issue, giving July cover girl Jourdan Dunn an editorial, "The Now Ease," styled by Edward Enninful and photographed by Emma Summerton. I wonder if Pat McGrath did makeup? It would make an almighty trio: black model, stylist, and makeup artist.

Posts for August 1st 2008
>> INSIDER WIRE —Yesterday, we saw Gap's femme fashion figures for Fall 2008, and today brings another fashion fixture shot — but of the masculine persuasion — Scott Schuman. He chronicled his Gap shoot back in April on The Sartorialist, even neglected to cut or shave his hair for weeks (as he was asked) in preparation. Only a photographer could understand how much it takes to get the right shot. [The Sartorialist]
Sasha Pivovorova, Lily Cole, Liya Kebede, and Shalom Harlow Take Their Breakfast at Tiffany's
>> Now that Prada has released Sasha Pivovarova from her campaign exclusive, it's fun to see where else she pops up. The latest? She joins flower child Lily Cole, opera-going Liya Kebede, and a chic Shalom Harlow in the Fall 2008 Tiffany & Co. cast, looking like an updated Audrey Hepburn. Word on the street is that Hye Rim Park also makes an appearance in the set, but we'll have to wait a little longer on that one.

>> THE MODELIZER —If you've ever wondered what Erin Wasson's New York apartment might look like, think eclectic fixtures like papier mache Mickey and Minnie Mouse heads, a spread-eagled nude statue, and lots of cross motifs. Photographer Todd Selby posted a whole gallery's worth of shots yesterday — one or two even featuring a mannequin sporting Erin's contentious body chain. [The Selby]
Coutorture Community's Must Reads 8/1
Fashion Fillers thinks she might have overspent on her latest international purchase. We think her purchase was smart, chic, and we wouldn't mind owning the shoes ourselves!
We've been having a coral obsession since early Spring, so when Catwalk Queen played dress up with a darling Moschino coral skirt. At least they have an excuse to day dream about coral skirts, because we daydream when we should be working.
Your Style Star is a self-admitted computer addict, so when she read about the reinvention of floppy disks in fashion, her interest was piqued. Talk about going green!
Wardrobe Oxygen may have written a post that will lose some of her readers, but she certainly deserves an award for honesty. She voices her opinion about what being a true fashionista means.
With styles going retro these days, it makes perfect sense to return to vintage for hairstyles. Debutante Clothing interviews a vintage hair expert for tips and tricks.
Harvey's Not Ready To Give Up on Halston Yet
>> Halston may have stripped itself of a head designer and a red carpet consultant recently, but the absence of Marco Zanini and Rachel Zoe won't keep owner Harvey Weinstein and board member Tamara Mellon from showing a Halston collection during New York Fashion Week.
In fact, it sounds like they're pulling out all the stops — the Spring 2009 collection, started by Marco Zanini and reportedly finished by an in-house team, will be presented at the Museum of Modern Art, a venue that can't be cheap to rent out. With five weeks until the presentation, who knows what could happen between now and then: Harvey Weinstein doesn't seem the type to throw in the towel on an investment.

>> THE MODELIZER —Ever wonder what Gemma Ward is up to these days, now that her face isn't plastered everywhere? Apparently she turned up Annapurna Circuit in Nepal a couple of months ago, according to some fellow travelers, with a porter in tow carrying two fully stuffed body-sized bags containing a guitar, a chess set, and some books, among other things. Falke Hosiery, Functional Luxury
You're not too old to put these on your holiday wish list. Nor are you too young to invest in some nice hosiery. So, no excuses! We pulled some Falke hosiery for our The Sun Doesn't Care photo shoot and, compared to the drug store pairs we ripped up and experimented with, they were silky pieces of art. Too beautiful to touch. We decided we'd never wear another pair of 'black mist' Duane Reade pantyhose again. We called them knock-offs, we threw them out. After all, we rationalized, if you're wearing reputable undergarments, it will show through your clothes. That is you'll feel better and walk with confidence knowing that just underneath those superficial layers is very expensive, very thin pieces of lace and silk. Oh la la.
What makes Falke extra-special, over the other luxury hosiery options, is that their specialty is sportswear. Borne in Germany, Falke has over one hundred years experience creating innovative garments that are functional rather than superfluous. Unfortunately the hosiery shots didn't make our edit, for reasons completely unrelated to their performance, but we just couldn't leave out the post. If an epiphany in undergarments occurs, 'aint no pictures necessary.
DNA Models, 1 Model Management Involved in Denisa Dvorakova Shuffle, Scuffle
>> Squabbling amongst modeling agencies is nothing new — everyone wants the primo girls, after all. A couple of months ago, DNA Models's head booker Louie Chaban sent shockwaves around when he booked it over to Women Model Management, with rumors following after that he took Agyness Deyn with him (even though she's currently listed on DNA's board).
Now, DNA Models is having more booker trouble. 1 Model Management filed suit last week against the agency, alleging that DNA hired one of its former bookers, Vivien Wang, despite the fact that she signed an agreement to not work for any of 1MM's competitors for one year she left DNA in May.
And here's the rub: Vivien she took Denisa Dvorakova, an up-and-coming model who walked most of the big couture shows in July (Chanel, Christian Dior, Valentino, Christian Lacroix) with her to DNA. Losing a promising talent in the month before the fashion weeks hurts.
