Vionnet

>> INSIDER WIRE —Soon enough, Rochas and Halston won't be the only labels in resuscitation mode — former Valentino chairman Matteo Marzotto just bought French couture house Vionnet, according to sources.  Like the two aforementioned (and Bill Blass), Vionnet has had a difficult past — Sophia Kokosalaki, who was expected to reinvigorate the brand, left just a year into her creative director post in May 2007, and her replacement, Marc Audibet, departed a year ago after one season.  [WWD] *image: source

Frank Tell Makes It Work for Fall 2009

>> No matter what your clothes look like, when you share a studio space with cool fashion types like Julia Restoin-Roitfeld and jewelry designer Pamela Love, you're bound to get some buzz.  Luckily for Frank Tell, he has talent enough that the buzz is just the appetizer.  In a presentation that kicked off with cocktails in the lobby of the Tribeca Grand Hotel, a sea of people flooded through to check out Tell's new offering; typically, his mainstay is cocktail dresses, but with a mind for saleability he decided to go with 60 percent separates this season.  Pamela Love contributed a vest of tiny metal swords, and since Swarovski couldn’t sponsor Tell this season, he recycled last season's sponsor offering, encrusting a sweater with the crystals — an echo that has resounded among many this season: just make it work.

Sasha Pivovarova

>> THE MODELIZER —She has two books in the works — one for Prada and one for Karl Lagerfeld — and Sasha Pivovarova dished on the latter a couple of nights ago at the Prada store redesign party: "Karl asked me to collaborate on a book based on Russian fairy tales!  I finally picked The Snow Maiden or Snegurochka.  It's a story of a gorgeous snow princess and her adventures towards a satisying, romantic, climax.  Karl didn't give a deadline, but I planned to do 12 illustrations and I've already done five!"

Marc Jacobs Continues His Sprouse Revival for Fall 2009

>> The reports were right: Marc Jacobs took the Stephen Sprouse moment he was having over at Louis Vuitton and extended it into his own Fall 2009 Marc Jacobs collection.  There were only folding chairs and a red carpet, no bleachers and extravagant set of yesteryear — apparently it's going to be the same at Louis Vuitton, according to Marc, a tight guest list and two rows — but all the better for the bright neon coats, ponchos, and hooded jackets to stand out.  "The collection is all about clubbing in the '80s, when New Yorkers could have fun, be creative.  Not like now .

Marc explained backstage, where Carine Roitfeld unexplainedly asked him if he was wearing underwear and he lifted up his kilt to show her he was.  It all happened so fast, starting one minute early and finishing eight minutes later, but the tone has been set; it's all about the individual — each of the 65 girls had a different makeup look and hairstyle.
