Marc Jacobs's New Muse, Possible Costume Institute Gala Date

>> Anne Hathaway has been tied to Valentino Garavani recently — she sat next to him at the New York premiere of Valentino: The Last Emperor, where he spilled red wine all over her white dress, and last week she presented him with a Rodeo Drive Walk of Style Award. While Valentino is not using a celebrity for its upcoming Fall 2009 campaign, it sounds like Anne might have a chance with another designer.

While Valentino is not using a celebrity for its upcoming Fall 2009 campaign, it sounds like Anne might have a chance with another designer.  Apparently, she's recently become close to Marc Jacobs — likely through Rachel Zoe, who dresses Anne and is close to Marc — and he promised to dress her for high-profile events. According to one of her friends, "Marc and Anne have forged a fast but very intense friendship and they’re going to start doing public appearances together soon. Anne hasn’t signed up to do any advertising yet but . . . if it works well, Anne would be happy to model for some of Marc’s campaigns."

Maybe one of those upcoming public appearances they're doing together is the Costume Institute Gala in a month?  Because although Marc is known for choosing quirky and unexpected faces for his campaigns, Anne doesn't really seem the right face for his neon, '80s-centric Fall 2009 collection.

Rodarte

>> ON THE CAMPAIGN TRAIL —Now seems to be the time to get into the ad game for young labels — Rodarte started up with a single ad in Fall 2008 and repeated for Spring 2009, Zac Posen recently released his own one-off ad for Spring 2009, and now Derek Lam is hopping on the idea train for Fall 2009.

Anna Wintour

Olivier Theyskens Coming to New York for Halston?

>> Halston is still looking for a creative director — talks with Roland Mouret didn't pan out, and Marios Schwab was said to be under consideration early last month, but Halston CEO Bonnie Takhar wouldn't confirm anything.

>> Halston is still looking for a creative director — talks with Roland Mouret didn't pan out, and Marios Schwab was said to be under consideration early last month, but Halston CEO Bonnie Takhar wouldn't confirm anything.  Now, rumors from Paris thrust newly-orphaned Olivier Theyskens onto the forefront of the search, which seems an odd match to say the least — an American sportswear brand and a Belgian designer known for making costly, romantic gowns.

But Anna Wintour definitely has setting up Olivier's future on her to-do list, and what better way to keep tabs on his well-being than bringing him stateside for a post?  And if Harvey Weinstein still wants to make Halston "the first American global luxury brand, an American LVMH," like he did in 2007, bringing in a closely-watched designer with a French design pedigree could definitely be a good start.

Wundervoll's Wonderful Fall 2009 Lingerie Range

We checked out Wundervoll's Fall 2009 lingerie range in the showroom last week and loved the retro sportswear styles. The 100% silk jersey fabrics were unbelievably soft to the touch and details, like extra-small buttons and contrast piping, gave the collection a more individual feel. The line is only stocked in a handful of stores around the world, including Journelle in New York, so check out their website for more.

In The Showroom: Catherine Holstein Fall 2009

Last week, we checked out New York designer Catherine Holstein's Fall 2009 collection in the showroom. Holstein lowered her price point this season meaning that there were less ornate details and more bang-for-buck pieces. Most exciting to us was an oversized boyfriend jacket which will retail for around $300. Only time will tell if Holstein will stick with this plan, her Spring 09 offering was one of our favorites from the season but perhaps it makes more sense to sell at that heavenly Topshop price point. Check out our snapshots from the showroom and her Fashion Week presentation in the gallery below.
