One of our favorite New York stores, Assembly, just launched an e-commerce site. Opened in the Lower East Side of Manhattan in 2008, this small but well-curated shop stocks the likes of Rachel Comey, Raquel Allegra and Dries Van Noten eyewear in addition to a selection of beautiful vintage pieces. The online store carries the same inventory as in-shop, so now everyone can partake in the fine selection. Our two favs, above.
Earlier this week it was learned that the 60 Minutes profile on Anna Wintour would air this Sunday at 7pm. Late yesterday, CBS News released a preview of the special, which is reported to include just 12 minutes of original footage. Hopefully this will tide us over until early fall, when The September Issue comes out. The documentary, by the way, has a Facebook page.
We recently happened upon a new vintage e-commerce site quickly picking up steam--Market Publique. This virtual marketplace offers vintage sellers the opportunity to open their own mini-shops on one fashion-loving platform. Sellers have to make the Market Publique cut, of course, they are first chosen for their style and integrity by the gals who run the site. Think of it as eBay for vintage but without those mis-labeled or misguided items getting in the way. Just great vintage finds at flea market prices. If you're not shopping for vintage online, and happen to be in New York, be sure to check out the new Dossier shop where a selection of Market Publique's inventory is on sale in the store.
Love it or hate it, high waisted swimwear is in fashion this season. Feminine contemporary designers like Rachel Pally and Hayden-Harnett showed stand-out examples this season while the Urban Outfitters-owned line, Silence & Noise, never fails to pick up on a trend. It's peripheral examples such as these which will bring this look to life, however, don't expect to find a shortage of regular swimwear anytime soon. We doubt the day will ever come when a teeny bikini is difficult to find.
