>> Merci Karl, a tell-all book by former Lagerfeld assistant Arnaud Maillard, made waves two years ago when it first came out in France.  The book has just been released in German, and Maillard, who led the Lagerfeld Gallery Studio for five years, reiterates in a new interview with Speigel something we all knew: Karl is self-involved. "He's an unbelievable narcissist. He needs an eternity to get ready in the morning. He takes photos of himself at every photo shoot and puts them everywhere."

Just as described in The Beautiful Fall, the author of which Lagerfeld sued, Maillard says Karl "dumps people at the drop of a dime."

He surrounds himself with a kind of royal court, nobody disagrees with him . . . He can also be merciless. I've seen him simply stop talking to people, stop acknowledging their existence. In the fashion industry, nobody raises their voice; they say the worst things in a very polite tone.

>> THE MODELIZER — Agyness Deyn has a new Uniqlo campaign and odd commercial that goes with it — think her and Gabriel Aubry running and jumping in slow motion — which stylist Nicola Formichetti just posted, and now she's got an entire song dedicated to her by London-based DJ Jodie Harsh and NYC-based DJ Larry Tee.  The new single, "Agyness Deyn" — listen here — pays homage to her best friend Henry Holland's iconic t-shirts with a chorus of "Flick your bean for Agyness Deyn," and boasts lyrics like: "Even her assistant has an assistant / During fashion week . . . she has five." >> Carine Roitfeld has denied time and time again that she would never want to take over from Anna Wintour at Vogue — most recently, she told The Guardian: "I think it's really not me. I'm good at what I do here [at Vogue Paris] and I'm not sure if you put me in that world I would be as good. I think it's much easier to talk to 100,000 women than millions of women across America."

But here's the interesting part — she also hinted to The Guardian that she could be moving on from Vogue Paris sooner than later. >> INSIDER WIRE —Tom Ford doesn't have a release date set yet for his directorial debut, A Single Man, but according to Grazia's Cannes mole, he's still planning on a 2009 premiere.  Tom's widely known for his marketing acumen, but apparently he's being very secretive about the movie — treating it less like a film and more like a collection.  Only a handful of people have seen it, and he doesn't plan on releasing any set pictures, clips, or other information to spoil the "elegant" big reveal it sounds like he wants.
