Christopher Kane's first proper resort range was revealed to the world yesterday--and powerful it was. Inspired by images of nuclear explosions, the collection aimed to be 'beautiful' without falling back on typical prints like florals. For the look book, Kane's team assembled matching platform shoes from "gaffer tape and whatnot"--the results of which are just for show. As for the designs that will make it into stores, if his sold-out spring designs or highly anticipated Topshop collection are any indication, they should fare very well indeed.
For Resort, Donatella Versace designed a collection that was both breezy and bold. Bright colored silks, block graphics and glass stone details helped achieve this balance--everything was statement making and yet still appropriate for the beach. Our favorite pieces were the baroque and floral printed cotton separates that reminded us of something newcomer Mary Katranzou might send down the runway.
