>> Artist Cedric Rivrain's first solo exhibition exhibition, Drawings, was curated by Martine Sitbon and just wrapped a few days ago in Paris, but based on his portfolio, it won't be his last. He's sketched for the likes of John Galliano, TokionNuméro, A magazine, and Dazed and Confused, and has a tendency to pair models (like Sasha Pivovarova, Kate Moss, Anabela Belikova) and designer clothes (from Balenciaga, Prada, Margiela) with band-aids. “Bandages are kind of jewelry and can be as ornamental as a garment,” he recently told Style.com.

Kate Moss Writhes Around Onstage, Sings for Charity

>> Kate Moss knows how to give a performance, and when you combine that with her passion for music — be it dating rockers, dancing in music videos, or doing a little singing herself — you get a performance like last night.  She was a judge at children's charity event Hoping's Got Talent and surprised the London audience — which included Mario Testino — by taking the stage with Pink Floyd's David Gilmour to sing a rendition of Gershwin's Summertime.  She danced, got down on her knees, and writhed around onstage; apparently she took singing lessons in preparation for the event.  But she left quite an impression, raising £47,600 (approx.

A Complete Look at Moises de la Renta's First MDLR Collection for Fall 2009

>> Back in February, Oscar de la Renta's son Moises launched his own line, MDLR, for Fall 2009 after internships at Phat Farm and with his father.  Much of the collection retails for under $1,000, and Lissy Trullie posed for the inaugural lookbook, which thanks to the newly-launched MDLR web site, can be seen in full below.  The line was predicted by Style.com to be "a chart topper," and the designer's friend Julia Frakes promises that we'll be "head over heels" for his Spring 2010 collection.

For Resort, Vera Wang called up some of the themes she's been experimenting with in recent seasons. Dense metals, wisp-thin blouses and dresses and statement jewelry reappeared. The designer opted for flats on the runway, another piece of evidence that suggests sky-high heels are on their way out.

Shopping: Quilted Clothing and Accessories

This season, quilting isn't reserved for iconic handbags and winter-weather jackets.

This season, quilting isn't reserved for iconic handbags and winter-weather jackets. A variety of sporty accessories and sexy cocktail wear has cropped up quilted and we think it might be the beginning of a trend. Quilting gives the appearance of texture and can go sporty or futuristic depending on the design. Our three favorites, above.

>> INSIDER WIRE Vogue documentary The September Issue was originally scheduled to open in the US on Sept. 11, but those in New York will have the chance to see it a week earlier: the film opens in Manhattan on August 28, expands in the New York area on Sept. 4, and then opens in the top 15 markets countrywide on Sept. 11. The film will be widely available worldwide (full list of countries here), according to director RJ Cutler: “When we went to Sundance [Film Festival], people said that the one thing you had to brace yourself for is that there won’t be sales overseas. But now we’re going everywhere but China.”  He couldn't confirm whether Anna Wintour will do press for the film, but said that he expects that she will do some “depending on the opportunity.” [IndieWire]

Quote Of The Day: Fashion Reaches Out To Plus Size Women

Stores as diverse as Kmart and Lord & Taylor have dispensed with conventional big girls’ “dos and don’ts,” offering the hothouse colors and exuberant prints, the ruffles and flounces of their so-called straight-size counterparts.
