>> Erin Wasson to Show in Tents for Spring 2010 —It pays to be the longtime face of Maybelline: the cosmetics company just signed on to be Bryant Park's official cosmetic sponsor for two years and is taking Erin Wasson with them. Erin, who for the past two seasons has done more informal presentations, said back in March that her Spring 2010 collection is inspired by her pit bull, Cream. [WWD]

>> Is an ode to women of color becoming an annual thing for Vogue Italia? In its July 2009 issue, one year after the iconic all-black July 2008 issue, Franca Sozzani decided to use only black dolls in the issue's supplement commemorating 50 years of Barbie: “Barbie has been an icon for whole generations which is why I really wanted to give a strong sign in step with the times, and dedicate the anniversary issue to black Barbie.”
The supplement features the dolls — which are part of the newly-launched "So In Style" collection and are designed "with more authentic-looking black features, including . . . fuller lips, a wider nose, more distinctive cheekbones and curlier hair," dressed, posed, and photographed in editorial-like settings — see a few more pictures from inside here.
>> Dolce & Gabbana to Be in Upcoming Madonna Video? —Madonna may be the face of Louis Vuitton, but it's Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana who will reportedly appear in her upcoming music video, "Celebrate." Scenes were apparently shot during a dinner Dolce and Gabbana hosted for Madonna after her show Wednesday in Milan at their club-restaurant Gold, and more is expected to be shot Saturday at the designer's Metropole Theater, which they usually use for fashion shows and events. >> Still no clues about why Anna Wintour skipped couture in Paris last week, but now we know why Andre Leon Talley was spotted at a Whole Foods in Raleigh, North Carolina, neighboring on Durham, where he grew up, instead of watching the latest handsewn creations from Lacroix, Dior, and Chanel waltz by.
Talley was noshing on "Southern ham and baked chicken," he writes, along with 200 other guests July 5 (the day before couture began) at a brunch hosted by Dr. Maya Angelou at her compound in Winston-Salem: "At the end of the afternoon, everyone listened to Dr. Angelou, seated at her writing table in her family room, as she shared her thoughts on the importance of sharing this kind of reunion, a celebration of 'Who we are.'"
>> Did Kate Lanphear Influence Rihanna's New Haircut? —The Internet is in a tizzy after Rihanna debuted a new 'do involving a partially shaved head, but was she, given how fashion-savvy she is, inspired by Elle style director Kate Lanphear's look? Elle's creative director Joe Zee thinks so: "Rihanna shaves part of her head but our own Kate Lanphear has been sporting that same cut for months now." [Interview, Joe Zee Twitter]
>> After seasons and seasons of recognizable campaign faces — Kirsten Dunst, Lindsay Lohan, Vanessa Paradis, and most recently, Katie Holmes — set against vividly colorful backgrounds, Miuccia Prada did a total one eighty, choosing five unknown models — Mimmi Soderstrom, Hannah Holman, Ilda Lindqvist, Victoria Tuaz, and Whitney Coble — who were plucked at a time when only one, Coble, had walked on any major runways; the move is especially remarkable in a time when a number of major brands are sticking with celebrity or supermodel faces. The look for the Fall 2009 campaign — which was still shot in London, early May, by Miuccia's usual standbys, Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott — is stark and mostly void of color.
>> Is Marc Jacobs Honeymooning in Greece? —We know plenty of general details about Marc Jacobs and Lorenzo Martone's wedding — it's happening in Provincetown, Massachusetts next month — but what about the honeymoon? Lorenzo recently chatted with Fashion Week Daily about their summer vacation plans, listing off Venice, where they were in June, their wedding in Provincetown, and adding: "The second part of the summer would be a short week somewhere romantic — either a Greek Island or one of the beaches on the coast of Turkey, like Bodrum . . . This fall you don't have to worry that your LBD will leave you in the cold--there are plenty of leather options on deck for the season. Perhaps best demonstrated in the Yves Saint Laurent Fall 2009 collection, this season's leather is sculptural and feminine. Choose from your favorite designers, or, for a more affordable price point, look to high street stores like Topshop for options.
Pixie Market, known for their affordable, fashion-forward wares, recently sold out of a t-shirt that closely resembles a blouse from the Fall 2009 Balmain collection. Designed by the brand Phamous, the 95 dollar top features the same striping pattern, shoulder tailoring and sequin-shine as that of the Balmain original.
The controversial burka makes it's way onto the runways.
Darn — Daria Werbowy is not the only exclusive model in Vogue Paris' August issue.
