Carine Roitfeld Had an Ulterior Motive for Attending the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show

The Imagist reports: "[Roitfeld didn't just want] a dose of good old American spectacle. Let's just say there's a veeeery sexy Inez and Vinoodh edit abrewing for Vogue Paris. Extra points to the gossip gurl who can suss out who the cast for that booking will be. There's said to be at least 3 angels (past n present) in the mix." And today, jewelry designer Rodrigo Otazu Tweeted: "Busy morning with French Vogue shoot [sic] today with top models Karolina Kurkova, Lily Donaldson, Adriana Lima and Izabel Goulart." The cast fits the description: Kurkova, Lima, and Goulart are three Victoria's Secret Angels past and present.

The transgender model, who is repped by Women Milan, has now graduated to covers: she's on the new Lurve cover, wearing Givenchy couture, and it's rumored that Katie Grand styled her for a Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott-snapped LOVE cover last week. Roberto Cavalli

Roberto Cavalli Conducts His Business on a 15-Year-Old Nokia Phone the Size of a Shoe

>> Roberto Cavalli doesn't like to be told no.

>> Roberto Cavalli doesn't like to be told no. He just celebrated his 40th anniversary in September, and when pondering the guest list, he told W in its December 2010 issue: "I will invite other designers, but they won't come — they are all sh*t."

He also hates to be told he can't do something. "I never understand why God gives the possibility to have children just to woman," Cavalli said, clutching theatrically at his belly. "Oh, my God, my dream would be to have a baby!" And: "When I go to a restaurant and they say, 'We're fully booked,' I say, 'It's Roberto Cavalli,' and they say, 'I will check.' I love it!" the designer said, clapping his hands with relish.

Cavalli, who turns 70 on Monday, definitely has his quirks — he conducts business from a 15-year-old Nokia cell phone the size of a shoe. "I bought all of the ones on eBay," he told W. And late at night, he has been writing a memoir of sorts — on his life in fashion, but more importantly to him, on the way he has fashioned his life. "I don't know what to write [about the] last 15 years," he said. "What model I have in my fashion show?"

Lady Gaga Rumored to Be on Vogue's March 2011 Cover

>> Lady Gaga has appeared in Vogue before — in the December 2009 issue, she played the witch in a Hansel and Gretel spread, and Grace Coddington, who styled the shoot, said Gaga arrived on set "stark naked except for her white rubber raincoat and some very, very high heels!” Now, it's rumored that she scored the magazine's cover — for the second biggest issue of the year, March 2011.

Alexander Wang's Store Opening Got Pushed Back, But It Will Open "Sometime" in 2011, Host Exclusive Product

>> Fresh off attending the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show Wednesday night as a guest of Carine Roitfeld — "She goes every year. She says it's her favorite show," he told The CutAlexander Wang stopped by Barneys in New York last night for his Spring 2011 collection trunk show, where his knits and suede clutches with rose gold were said to be selling well.

But what about Wang's own Manhattan store, which workers recently estimated to be ready for opening mid-March? Wang himself was scant on detail: "It's opening sometime next year, yes." No more specifics? "No more specifics. You know, I've learned to stop talking about details because every time I think it's going to open, it always gets pushed back. So if I stop talking about it, maybe it will actually open when I want it to open." When the store finally does open, though, he did confirm one thing: "There will definitely be exclusive product, for sure." Wang's first brick-and-mortar isn't his only store under construction: he also recently announced that he'll be reworking his online store.

As for Wang's holiday plans, he says: "I rarely celebrate Thanksgiving . . . I work with my family, I'm around them all the time. I think Thanksgiving's like our break, to go off and be with our friends, to do something fun. I might be leaving the City but I don't know where yet."

And come December? "My birthday's in December, so I'm planning a little trip for me and my friends, but again, no idea [where]. I feel like it's about going on a whim, that kind of thing, where you get 10 of your friends together. That's my biggest treat, to me, when I get to really get away and be able to really spend time with my friends and have a crazy blast."

Peter Copping Drops More Nina Ricci Spring 2011 Campaign Hints, Is Anti-Live Streaming

>> Peter Copping was on set for his first Nina Ricci campaign yesterday — shot by Inez van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin, styled by Alex White, at the spa of New York's Greenwich Hotel — but he wouldn't disclose who the model was, other than to say she is older and was not on his Spring 2011 runway.

He was more open with his feelings on other subjects, however. While he's in charge, Nina Ricci won't be live streaming its runway show: “I’ve never been into it. It appeals much more to the big brands. Their goal is to reach a huge amount of people. I don’t think it ever seems appropriate for Nina Ricci, because it goes beyond that sense of intimacy that I want to create for the house.”

And he doesn't like for his collection to be called "pretty," he says. “When people write that, I always think . . . I don’t know. I like it when people read something more into [the collection].”

Copping recently mentioned wanting to foray into bridal and lingerie soon, and he also won't rule out a secondary collection. It could happen — Nina Ricci is currently one of the fastest growing designer ready-to-wear businesses at Barneys.

A Peek at Madewell Spring 2011

>> Madewell transformed their New York showroom into a newsstand yesterday, serving up free coffee and doughnuts, gum, and lip gloss during their Spring 2011 presentation. Why? "We’re absolutely in love with street style in New York," Kin Ying Lee, head of design for the label, explained, so she wanted to set the same stage for the collection.

While the label is pushing forward for Spring with high-waisted trouser denim and longer silk skirts, Lee also noted that she didn't want to push too far ahead in the manner of fast fashion — brand identity is important, too: "We have a couple of things that we go back to every season: the striped t-shirt, the chambray shirt, and rugged looks but in new ways that they can be incorporated into individual wardrobes."
