Fashion's Night Out Goes Prime-Time With CBS
As previously reported Vogue has been shopping around a television pitch profiling Anna Wintour's shopping-focused Fashion's Night Out, and today CBS confirmed the 2010 New York Fashion Week kick-off event will be the subject of a one-hour special this fall.
The upcoming television show will focus on the making of Fashion's Night Out, scheduled for September 10, by filming behind the scenes footage during the months-long planning process at Vogue, the CFDA, designers' studios, and NYC & Company. The current show description promises to "follow celebrities, designers, editors, and retailers as they prepare for one of the most anticipated events of the year."
CBS executive producer Susan Zirinsky said the democratic nature of the event makes for good television. If last year's festivities are any indication—Anna Wintour kicking off the evening at Macy's in Queens before heading uptown to watch Bette Midler sing show tunes with Oscar de la Renta and Sarah Jessica Parker—we would have to agree. Good television, indeed.
The special will air Wednesday, September 15 at 8PM EST.
