Anne Sofie-Back Shows Secondary Line in Stockholm, Hints at Stripper-Inspired Main Collection

Recently appointed creative director of Cheap Monday, Anne Sofie-Back hasn't ignored her own namesake collections.

Recently appointed creative director of Cheap Monday, Anne Sofie-Back hasn't ignored her own namesake collections. She presented the fall 2010 lineup for her diffusion line, Back, in Stockholm this week, showing everyday wearable pieces in black, white, and gray. The fabrics used for her slighly askew basics—an oversized wrap coat wiht bell sleeves, padded-knee trousers, cropped jackets, and cutout capes—were soft and slouchy, comfortable fashion.

For her mainline Anne Sofie-Back collection, which will debut during London Fashion Week, Back took inspiration from her Second Life avatar—an unsuccessful, lonely stripper. Dazed Digital has more on both collections.

>> Nathalie Rykiel Partnered with H&M Because They Were Copying Her —If you can't beat H&M, join them, is Nathalie Rykiel's attitude. Nathalie, currently in New York to launch the Sonia Rykiel for H&M knitwear collection, admitted when prompted that H&M, before their partnership, had used her designs. "Yes, of course! They copy me all the time! Finally I said, 'Look, if you want your girls to wear Sonia Rykiel from H&M, let's let them have the real thing!'"  The collection's launch is tonight at Bobo in the West Village, with Chanel Iman making her DJing debut on deck.  When WWD asked Chanel about her favorite workout song, she replied: "I don’t work out." >> Last April at a dinner celebrating Cartier's 100th Anniversary, Zac Posen took a seat next to Harper's Bazaar editor and the evening's hostess, Glenda Bailey. Posen, offended that Bazaar, which rarely featured his clothes, had asked him to appear in a spread next to Sesame Street Muppet The Count, confronted Bailey in front of her guests. “I didn’t want to model with the Count,” Mr. Posen told the New York Times this week. “She said that was the only way my clothes could be in the magazine as a non-advertiser. I think she was surprised I wouldn’t take the part, but I stood my ground and I still do.”  Last September, Glenda Bailey did not attend Posen's show, although a Bazaar spokeswoman said the magazine had always supported Posen.

Posen, in the meantime, has his work cut out for him »
