Before there was Marc Jacobs taking it all off for Bang, Yves Saint Laurent was posing naked for his own men's fragrance campaign. A nude photograph of the late designer will be up for auction at Christie's in Paris next month as part of a sale featuring 60 photographs by Jeanloup Sieff. The photo of Saint Laurent (at left) was used for Pour Homme, the first YSL men's fragrance advertising campaign in 1971.

Pierre Bergé, Saint Laurent's business partner, in 1997 said of the image: "It was just provocation on the part of Yves Saint Laurent. The picture didn't specifically target the gay population, even though it  resonated strongly among them. In any case the photo was hardly published at the time. Just barely in the French press. It was only much later on that it became an almost mythical icon."

>> The first peeks at Stefano Tonchi's stamp on W will come with the magazine's July issue, and a full redesign is planned for the September issue, but it's the August issue that will provide the first look at a Tonchi-overseen W cover: he's reportedly gone with Jon Hamm and Rebecca Hall (costars in Ben Affleck's upcoming crime drama The Town)

It's not unheard of to have a couple cover at W — see Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie or, more recently, Gerard Butler and Jennifer Aniston — but the Hamm-Hall duo is shorter on mass appeal than past W cover choices — an interesting decision for a W that's said to have a more general-interest lifestyle directive under Tonchi. Also interesting: Hall was just featured on the cover of T last August, when Tonchi was editor of that magazine.

>> Daphne Guinness Wears Rick Owens to the Gym —Daphne Guinness told the Times UK she doesn't understand why people want to look rich these days; when questioned about her habit of piling on the diamonds, she replied: “But half of them are paste. And no one can ever tell the difference. That’s the point.” Guinness, who works out "all the time," was then asked what she wears to the gym: “Not diamonds. Normal stuff. A Rick Owens white T-shirt and black leggings. I’m not high-maintenance. When I think my hair needs a bit of help, I just glue another bit on to my head.” [Times UK]

>> Two weeks after Claudia Schiffer gave birth to her third child, she has announced her new daughter's name: Cosima Violet Vaughn Drummond. Schiffer seems to have a thing for names that begin with C — her two older children, also by husband Matthew Vaughn (whose birth name is Matthew de Vere Drummond) are named Caspar Matthew de Vere Drummond and Clementine de Vere Drummond.

Speaking of babies, Karolina Kurkova — who home-delivered her first son, Tobin Jack, last October — and has been working more consistently post-pregnancy than she did in the months pre-pregnancy, told W: "I didn't gain much weight [during pregnancy] . . . I did take a few months off, to make sure we bonded and established a relationship as a family — not just me and the baby, but my husband, too. But now I'm back to work and it's actually busier than ever. I'm having more fun, and it's almost like I have a higher purpose now . . . But definitely, it's challenging. How do you balance being a working woman, a good mom and a wife? It's tough, but kind of exciting, too . . . I'm just really glad to be back to work, and I'm fortunate that sometimes when I have to go away for a few days, I can take my son. I want to incorporate him into my life as much as possible. And he's getting used to being in different places and around new people. I think he likes it!"

Now, word comes that Rosie Huntington-Whiteley — who worked with Bay on a Victoria's Secret commercial he directed, which aired last holiday season — may have been offered the role. >> Less than a year after Lindsay Lohan and Estrella Archs were brought on to design at Emanuel Ungaro, Giles Deacon has been signed to revamp the brand once again. Deacon plans to continue his own line and will show his first collection for Ungaro — likely in presentation format — during Paris Fashion Week in October, for the Spring 2011 season.

In fact, Deacon said that his first two shows for Ungaro will be off the catwalk, adding: "Nothing is set in stone yet, but I want to be able to get my head into it before considering a catwalk show. Plus, a presentation can be a much more interesting way to show — I can walk people through the designs and discuss the ideas with them. It makes it a much more personal experience."
