Shimmer and shine are proving to be an undying trend for a number of New York Fashion Week attendees. At the 3.1 Phillip Lim runway presentation alone, we spotted Meredith Melling Burke in a nude sequined top, another attendee in black sequined shorts, and Brit rocker Liela Moss giving her own take. Get Liela's look, above, with Notify leather pants, a black sequin tank, and accessorize with a red bag for extra pop.
Karoline Kurkova showed up at a number of shows this New York Fashion Week — Alexander Wang, Michael Kors, and Oscar de la Renta among them. She told Modelinia: “After having the baby I’m a new person and I feel like I’m starting again as a new person. It’s the rebirth of me and an evolution of me. It just kind of all happened at once and everybody was excited for me to do shows, so I kind of instead of doing one, I could do just one exclusive or one or two. But I decided, ‘Let me just go with it.’”
Kurkova, captured in her downtime between shows, gave her take on the color for Fall, camel, with a slouchy ribbed sweater, asymmetric skirt, and toffee-colored oxfords. Emulate her chic look by pairing this BCBG Max Azria sweater, seen above, with a draped skirt by Vivienne Westwood Anglomania. Finish off with oxfords, dark sunnies, and a black satchel.

"[Working conditions are] getting unfortunately worse," says Rubik. "When we used to model, at least the changing rooms were way better for girls. Now, there's no respect, we have to change with 1,000 other people around. So I think it's even going backwards, it's getting worse and worse. Now, we were at Rodarte and everyone was backstage while we were changing so everyone could see us naked. Back in the days when I started, we had our separate room and there was some kind of wall that separated us. I don't think it will ever change because everything is so hectic and last minute. There are too many girls who would do the job if you don't do it, so I don't think it's possible to unite all of the girls say, 'No, we want this and these conditions.' I think that's crazy, It'll never happen. I think it's mission impossible." [The Cut]
>> We caught models snarling backstage at Marc Jacobs and having a moment with Prabal Gurung, now it's on to Herve Leger, Marc by Marc Jacobs, Narciso Rodriguez, Vera Wang, Rodarte, and Michael Kors, where we caught Karmen Pedaru giving her best pout at little Marc and an up-close look at those Rodarte shoes.
>> Karen Elson Reportedly to Play Love Party in London — Karen Elson serenaded the New York crowd at Balenciaga during Fashion's Night Out — and her first single, "The Ghost Who Walks," was blared during Anna Sui's Spring 2011 runway show. Now word comes from London that Elson will be the "surprise" musical guest at Love's party on September 19th, hosted by Katie Grand, who made a brief appearance at Proenza Schouler during New York Fashion Week before jetting back to the UK. But Grand had a duo of male photographers busy in Manhattan: they reportedly shot backstage portraits of Love's favorite models for an upcoming spread in the magazine.

Marc Jacobs and Fendi introduced tea-length skirts on their Fall 2010 runways and the look was spotted everywhere in the crowd at New York Fashion Week.
Marc Jacobs and Fendi introduced tea-length skirts on their Fall 2010 runways and the look was spotted everywhere in the crowd at New York Fashion Week. Contrast the modest hemline — we love the deep aubergine hue on the Sparkle & Fade skirt seen center — with a leather jacket and tough ankle boots for a modern vibe, or with a silk blouse and pointy-toe pumps for a lady-like approach.
