>> For Resort 2012, Alexander Wang was inspired by "the idea of speed and things that felt fast, like competitive swimming and cycling." The athletic references are easy to spot; the collection features shiny, over-sized windbreakers, mesh racing-style vests, and a plethora of primary colors. In keeping with the sporty theme, Resort 2012 also marks the debut of swimwear and sneakers for Wang. The new pieces are exactly what one would expect from Wang: streamlined with sexy details. The swimsuits are tank-style with cut-outs, while the sneakers — available in three colors — feature patches of textured skins, gleaming nylon and a vaguely '70s silhouette.

Proenza Schouler

Proenza Schouler Resort 2012

>> Proenza Schouler's Resort 2012 collection saw a continuation of the '70s Western look they presented for Fall — albeit with a more Spring-like vibe.

>> Proenza Schouler's Resort 2012 collection saw a continuation of the '70s Western look they presented for Fall — albeit with a more Spring-like vibe. Wavy, patchwork colorblocking in earthy hues decorated boxy jackets and sheath dresses. Large, box-pleat pockets adorned mini skirts, a graphic marble print accented dresses and blouses, and wide, black leather binding added contrast throughout.

>> The first Resort collection from Opening Ceremony is a windswept mix of botanic prints and easy, music-festival-ready silhouettes. Look for lots of breezy '60s and '70s shapes — mod dresses, flowing palazzo pants, tiered halter tops, and wildflower skirts — all in a palette of blood orange, acid yellow and cobalt blue. Tim Barber shot the lookbook and Camille Rowe models.
