Those stories and more in our daily news roundup.

Those stories and more in our daily news roundup.

  • Rumor has it Kate Moss was dropped as the face of David Yurman after eight years because she did a jewelry collaboration with British line Fred's. The campaign for that line was, in Yurman's estimation, "embarrassingly similar" to his own ads with Moss and factored in to her dismissal. [Stylelist]

  • The Qatar Luxury Group is planning to open its very own clothing and accessories label, called Qela, sometime this year. The goal is for Qela to open a store in Doha, Qatar, by the end of the year and expand to international markets in 2013. [Yahoo]

  • Emma Stone covers the September 2012 issue of Interview magazine wearing aggressive stud earrings and a bronze collar. [Design Scene]

  • An Italian hosiery company called Zephyr is suing Victoria's Secret for $15 million, claiming that the lingerie maker is making inexpensive knockoffs of its legwear — but using cheap lace and bad construction to do it. [Elle]

  • To clarify: Tyra Banks did not attend Harvard Business School. She attended "a non-degree-granting certificate course at Harvard called the Owner/President Management Program." [Jezebel]

  • Jenn Rogien, costume designer behind the popular HBO show Girls, is coy when asked whether she's planning on launching her own clothing line. "Right now I'm fully immersed in costume design but I would never say never," she says. [WWD]

  • The Cambridge Satchel Company has won a trademark infringement case against rival bag maker Zatchels, which has been ordered to pay an unspecified settlement. But Zatchels said in a statement, "The designs we have been offering over the last few months will continue to be offered and are not affected by this settlement. It is not in any way relevant to our current trading position." [Catwalk Queen]

The Many Sayings — and Faces — of Tom Ford

Today may mark his 51st birthday, but in truth, Tom Ford doesn't look a day over 33.
Tom Ford's Best Quotes and Pictures

Today may mark his 51st birthday, but in truth, Tom Ford doesn't look a day over 33. That's no small feat, especially when one considers the very busy life he's led: the 18-hour days as the creative director of Gucci, the five-year stint pulling double duty at the helm of YSL, the critically acclaimed filmmaking career, and — of course — the rise of his very own eponymous empire. Through it all, Ford's not only maintained his dapper sense of personal style, but he's also maintained his striking good looks. In fact, some may say he looks better now than ever. At the very least, he's definitely perfected his steel-eyed red-carpet pose.

But that's not all. Not even close. The man's also delivered his share of memorable quotes, more than possibly anyone else alive in fashion today with the exception of Karl Lagerfeld — and the Kaiser's had a 17-year head start.

So, in honor of the oft-controversial, always-entertaining designer's Aug. 27 birthday — not to mention his way with words and skill with a pose — here's a look at some of our very favorite Tom Ford quotes.

Alber Elbaz Is Glad Designers Don't Hate Each Other Anymore

"There was a time when designers hated other designers," Alber Elbaz said in a recent interview with WSJ.

"There was a time when designers hated other designers," Alber Elbaz said in a recent interview with WSJ. Magazine. "But today there is actually major respect between many of us. We understand each other. We are all going through the same stressful process. Before shows we send each other little cards with congratulations; we send each other flowers. We're kind of a crazy family, but still a family. There are many designers I really respect and love. I love Azzedine (Alaïa). I like Narciso (Rodriguez) and Marc (Jacobs) and Nicolas (Ghesquiére) from Balenciaga. The first collection Raf Simons did for Dior was gorgeous. I'm not jealous of people — I'm only jealous of people who can eat and not gain weight. I respect talent. When I see talent and when I see a good person who comes with the talent, I melt."

A look at the playlists of four very different models — Chanel Iman, Jessica Stam, Chrissy Teigen, and Kate Upton, to be exact — reveals that their taste in music is just as different as their personas.
Models Spotify Playlists August 2012

A look at the playlists of four very different models — Chanel Iman, Jessica Stam, Chrissy Teigen, and Kate Upton, to be exact — reveals that their taste in music is just as different as their personas.

All four women signed on as part of Skullcandy's Supermodel Crew this Summer; the first part of the collaboration with the headphone brand was to list what songs are on their Spotify playlists. Teigen's is heavy on R&B from John Legend (they're engaged to be married, after all), while Stam's includes soulful, old-school tracks from Etta James, Otis Redding, and Willie Nelson. What are the others listening to? Find out — and listen to the tracks — right here.

It's a Film, It's a Mag . . . It's the Teaser For CR Fashion Book's First Issue

First she gave us images, and now she's giving us film: Carine Roitfeld has released a 40-second teaser video for her new magazine CR Fashion Book, which gives brief behind-the-scenes looks at some of the first issue's shoots.

First she gave us images, and now she's giving us film: Carine Roitfeld has released a 40-second teaser video for her new magazine CR Fashion Book, which gives brief behind-the-scenes looks at some of the first issue's shoots. In the short clip, set to an abbreviated version of the Lupe Fiasco song "Superstar," Roitfeld is seen weaving in and out of fashion shows and placating the corps of paparazzi who document her every move. In the background, we hear her asking, "Is it too extreme? This is a big moment, no?" before snippets of a few photo sessions appear. While it's unconfirmed whether the footage comes from the documentary Mademoiselle C — which follows the creation of the first issue of CR Fashion Book — one thing is certain: when Roitfeld asks, "It's a big return, no?" the answer is a resounding yes.

The magazine is scheduled to be on newsstands by Sept. 13; a look at what we can expect from that issue in the video below.
